Satan Statue in Oklahoma City?


In America today equality is everything, if someone isn't allowed to do something or say something, unless for the most part they happen to be a Christian, conservative, or a libertarian, then something is wrong and must be corrected. This can be seen, for it is why Muslims in a vast majority of the nation are granted time to pray in public schools, while Christians praying or Christian prayer is seen as a violation of civil liberties and the atheists kid's right not to be around religion. And why, as we learned yesterday, in our secular culture that must be free from religion according to the Left, it is imperative that an idol to worship Satan must stand beside the 10 commandments written on a stone slab at the state capitol in Oklahoma City.

However, what must be recognized is that the 10 commandments and an idol in honor of Satan are not only fundamentally different in their nature, but also in their importance to this nation. Since, on the one hand you have a slab with 10 laws written on it, which pays no homage or worship to any particular God, for as has been well documented many groups outside of both Christianity and Judaism recognize not only the truth but the holiness of the 10 commandments; and thus it can only be properly said to pay homage to Nature's God.

The same God of Nature that is recognized by the founders in the Deceleration of Independence which reads:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Furthermore, if one denies this truth, then they commit themselves to a truth that they may be even less comfortable with; namely that America was founded as an explicitly and thoroughly Judeo-Christian nation.

Moreover, the 10 commandments are not simply some unimportant list of laws that religious nuts demand are present in the court-houses and government facilities across our nation; for they form the very basis of our law across the nation and the basis for America being founded in the first place, which is clear as the Deceleration of Independence continues by reading: 

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. 

Thus, the 10 commandments are not only different in their very nature, for unlike an idol to Satan, they do not pay homage to or worship to any particular God, but they also, unlike Satan, have played and continue to play a vital role in the nature of America, its laws, and the way in which we understand our rights and our government.

Not only that, but the very nature of an idol to a particular God, whether it be Satan, Christ, Allah etc. being erected on the grounds of a government's capitol building should be offensive to not just Christians, Jews and Muslims who hold personal beliefs about Satan as their enemy, but also to those on the Left; for it flies in the very face of the Constitution and the Left's stress on the importance of freedom from institutionalized religion in government that is found within.  

Thus, while the Satanists may demand equality in all things, an idol to Satan and the 10 commandments are very different in both their nature and their importance to this nation, and thus can never be properly said to be equal.
