Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

To you and yours, a very hearty Merry Christmas from all the crew here at A Parallel Too High.

On this day in America in 1776, George Washington and his men crossed the Delaware, surprising British troops garrisoned in Trenton New Jersey, resulting in a major victory for the Americans who suffered very negligible losses. Effectively insuring the success of the American Revolution, as the victory reinvigorated the Continental Armies moral and inspired many to re-enlist.

On this day in Canada in 1855, at the Tete du Pont barracks near Kingston, Ontario the Royal Canadian Rifles cleared ice from lake Ontario and using a lacrosse ball and field hockey sticks participated in the first ever game of ice hockey to be played in Canada.

"A people without knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots."
